Looking after our learners

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is defined as: protecting children from maltreatment; preventing impairment of children’s mental and physical health or development; ensuring that children grow up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care; and taking action to enable all children to have the best outcomes. (Keeping Children Safe in Education, 2023).

Safeguarding is what we do for all children and young people to keep them safe and is ingrained within our school ethos and culture. At West Midlands Education and Skills, we are committed to safeguarding children and young people for the extent of the time that they are on their learning journey with us.  We offer regular pastoral support and weekly tutorial sessions where they will learn about a range of themes that will help our students to be able to make positive contributions to society and how they navigate modern Britain.

Issues or concerns

We take all concerns and worries seriously. We are wholly committed to creating a safe and nurturing environment for our students where they are able to thrive and learn and feel supported and protected. Our staff are vigilant and are well trained on handling and reporting any concerns that may arise. We have a dedicated safeguarding team who are trained at advanced levels in order to handle and respond to any level of concern that arises.

Any issues or concerns can be reported directly to your child’s tutor, who will then liaise directly with the safeguarding team who will take any action that is required. Alternatively, you can contact the school on 01922 643303 and request to speak with the Designated Safeguarding Lead.
